City of Indian Rocks Beach Begins to Activate Permitting Pre-Approval Process

Effective this date, the below policy/procedures are to be implemented associated with storm recovery permitting:

A. For permits filed with the City that can definitively demonstrate that floodwater inundation was less than 12-inches depth and below electrical outlets (e.g. – date stamped photos of interior living space), the permit application can proceed if complete with requisite flood documents under Substantial Improvements processes with Pinellas County Building Department with the City’s approval. An example of an exception to this process would be a home that also sustained major damage from a tree. Individuals wanting to initiate the permitting process for properties inundated with 12-inches or less of floodwater can email hurricanerestorationpreapproval@irbcity.com. Please include the property address in the subject line.

    B. For permits filed with the City that can definitively demonstrate that structure is elevated and floodwater inundation was in garage and entryway on first floor, only, (e.g. – date stamped photos of interior living space), the permit application can proceed if complete with requisite flood documents under Substantial Improvements processes with Pinellas County Building Department with the City’s approval. Individuals wanting to initiate the permitting process for properties that are elevated and floodwater only inundated the garage and 1st floor entryway can email  hurricanerestorationpreapproval@irbcity.com. Please include the property address in the subject line.
