City of Indian Rocks Beach Files Objection to
Florida Senate Bill 280/House Bill 1537
For several years the City of Indian Rocks Beach has objected to proposed legislation that negatively impacts home rule in Florida. This year is no exception. Today the City of Indian Rocks Beach once again objected to Senate Bill 280.
The City of Indian Rocks Beach forwarded letters of objection to Senate Bill 280 to all members of State of Florida Senate Fiscal Policy Committee. The Committee will consider this bill at its meeting on Thursday, January 18, 2024. If passed by the legislature, the proposed bill would strip local government’s ability to adopt vacation rental rules that are important to their communities, mandate a one size fit all approach and delegates much of the review to a state agency. The House of Representative companion bill is House Bill 1537.
The City will continue its efforts to object to these bills and will continue to track them through the legislative process.
